I'm back in business, baby!

Well, you'll all be happy to know that after a long break, I've decided there are too many things to rant about to keep them to myself.

But, it's late and I gotta get to bed. Hey, there's something to complain about right there, being a night owl...

Later. Honest.

Long time no blog...

Yeah, I know. You missed me. Well, I missed you too and now I'm back, with a new name, new location, and new complaints. Stay tuned: with a little help from my ISP, I should be back in the fast lane before Christmas -- hopefully, this year. It's been a week since I signed up, and I'm still on dial-up -- grrr...

If you're gonna comment, at least comment on my content

I hate when people use my blog as an excuse to promote something entirely unrelated. Go hire a spammer, cheapskate!

Acadia University - Wolfville, NS

The Environmental Sciences building at Nova Scotia's Acadia University is a work of art. Modeled after buildings in some of the top ivy-league schools, the Irving family spared no expense on the quality and design. Check it out...

Remember when?

Neither do I, now that the link has been removed. Sorry, everyone!

What else would you do with 15 million ice cream sticks?

Sadly, we'll never know, now that the post has been removed from the Reuters website. That's 20547 fudgsicles, or 10273 popsicles per day! Now, divided by 3 people (McDonald and 2 volunteers) would still be 6849 fudgsicles or 3424 popsicles per day. They should have called Homer Simpson. Yes. I did the math. [Sigh]

Amitai Etzioni Notes: How crazy can you get?

Cars are just getting way too complicated.

Halifax in August...

So, here we are in Halifax for a couple days. Actually, Christine with a 3-week placement, and I, who supposedly looking for a job, somehow turned it into a mini-vacation :/ Of course, I can always e-mail my resume and apply online, but I was "planning" to visit recruiters in person. Note to self: bring some half-decent threads next time to demonstrate interest to potential employers. At least I can visit some friends while staying here.

Halifax is a sea port on the Atlantic, and the whole surrounding region is dotted with lakes. Most of the water here is blue; quite shocking, really, after living for 3 years in close proximity to the "Chocolate River."

Amazingly enough, I forgot what it's like to be back in a larger city. Home seems even smaller after being around here for a few hours. A bus trip from our home to downtown Moncton takes 5 minutes. Here, the shortest trip from Bedford to Halifax downtown takes 30 minutes (half of it on a freeway), and this not counting the 6-minute drive (or 30-minute suicide walk along same freeway) to get to the park and ride bus terminal. And at the bus terminal everybody knows where they're going (except me). New adventures to be sure.

Say bye bye

What a week. And it's only Tuesday! Just got the boot from my job of 3 years. Slaving over a hot computer, breaking my back in air-conditioned comfort--who needs it? Me. That's who. Guess I'll have to pound the pavement and find something else.

Sheesh

Oh yeah; happy birthday to me. Almost forgot my own birthday. Sheesh.

Back to the grind

Back to work today after a week off. Camping for a few days, if you must know. It was great to be outdoors again. Five Islands Provincial Park is the place to camp. 300 ft cliffs, fog, waves, trails not for the faint of heart, even live entertainment by the local critters. Near Parrsboro, NS. Only 2 hours drive from home and highly recommended. Yes. By me.
